Holly Jolly Christmas!

So it’s that time of year again. Time for the annual Sprayberry Family Christmas Photo! This year I decided to take the photo and not be in it AND Thomas wasn’t playing nice with the pups so he got a solo image. Baxter is still learning the etiquette of Christmas imaging but what else would you expect from a rookie…

Merry Christmas!

that keeps on giving…

My good friend and fellow photographer from Dallas, Lynn Michelle, is doing something fantastic on her blog. She is giving $1 to the Salvation Army for every comment she gets on her blog. I would like to invite all 3 of my blog readers to head on over to LM’s blog and leave a comment so we can not only send Lynn to the poor house but make a great big donation to the Salvation Army!  🙂

Tell her Brian sent you!

Giving Thanks!

For Thanksgiving this year, MK and I went to North Carolina to visit her mom, her brother and her brother’s girlfriend. It was a magical trip, full of food, football and food. As I was sitting there watching football (and probably eating), one of the commentators asked me, his listening audience, what I was thankful for that day. So as I was sitting there thinking about all the things I am thankful for, I thought about one thing that has really been pretty special to me and that is all the awesome gifts I get from the couples MK and I work with. Haha, I’m kidding… probably… Of course, I am also thankful that they thought enough of us to not only shoot their weddings for them but to also be there with them on what is a very important day. I know, we’ve all heard the jokes about weddings and marriage in general but it really is an important day and it means a lot to us when we’re asked to participate. Also, I like the gifts I get. Haha, just joking again, probably, again…

MK and I went up to Gruene to shoot an engagement session the day after my birthday this year (Novemeber 13th for those looking to mark their gifting calendars for 2009). We were pretty pumped to be working with Katie and Dave, not just because she promised to bake us cookies (which we are still waiting for by the way… just sayin…) but also because Katie has been so energetic and so much fun as we’ve gotten to know her. So MK and I roll into town and when we meet up with Katie and Dave, I got a big hug, a big bag of Skittles and a gift card to Sonic for my birthday! How awesome is that? It’s like they’ve read the blog or something and knew that Skittles were my favorite candy in the whole world and that I love Sonic more than life itself! Awesome work Katie and Dave! Now how about those cookies?  🙂

A few days later we met with a really awesome couple we HOPE to be working with next year, Janell and Jason. Somewhere on our webpage I make reference to the fact that we gladly accept credit cards, checks, cash and Jelly Bellys. So what do you think Janell and Jason brought to the studio for their consult? That’s right, a BIG bag of Jelly Bellys. That, of course, was awesome BUT unfortunately our accountant said we couldn’t really accept them as payment. Sorry about that. 🙂

So back to things I am thankful for, I am really thankful for all the couples kind enough to invite us to be a part of one of the biggest days of their lives. I am also thankful for all the awesome gifts they give me. I also like a nice big juicy steak from Outback but that is a whole other blog post! Until, feast your eyes on these…

Baxter, you know I don’t speak Spanish!

In keeping with my bi-annual blog posting schedule, I bring you today’s entry. So as some of you know (probably none of you), MK and I recently celebrated our Second Wedding Anniversary. Ettiquette states that when gifting for their First Anniversary you should give a gift of paper. A lot of people don’t know this but the Second Anniversary is DOG!

It was in that light that I got my wife a new puppy. We actually discussed it quite a bit prior to actually pulling the trigger but we were able to find a puppy at an Animal Rescue up near Marble Falls. We were looking for a puppy that was the same breed as our current AWESOME dog, a Blue Heeler. We were pretty excited when we found Baxter in spite of the two hour drive each way to get her. Gotta love them there internets.

Turns out, in the 10 years I’ve had Blue, I had somehow magically forgotten about all the joys of puppy ownership. Getting perpetually scratched, bitten, licked and jumped on when you least expect it – cleaning up destruction and puppy pee. Ahhhh the joys…

I tease MK about Baxter being ‘special needs’ since puppies are always so uncoordinated and hyper – that part is actually pretty entertaining. So as I introduce my blog audience (all both of you) to Baxter, I decided to pick a picture of her where she looks exactly like you might picture a curious, awkwardly uncoordinated puppy or as I like to call her, Corky. For your viewing pleasure…

A little inside info…

I will let you in on a little secret. After every portrait shoot I do, I always stop by Sonic and get a Route 44 Cherry Lime-Aid. I know, I am a high roller right? So anyway, I’ve been kind of bummed for the last month or so because the Sonic by our house has been closed for renovations. I’ve either had to go without or find some other Sonic. Since I am typically not one to make sacrifices, I’ve mostly just gone to another Sonic.

So I was driving home the other day and I noticed that my beloved Sonic had reopened! What a joyous day! Now everything is right in the world again and equalibrium has been restored. I am not sure I could ask for a better gift BUT since my birthday (more on that later) and anniversary both come up next month and Christmas the month following, I am sure I can come up with something I would also like to receive…

For now, I leave you with this lovely photograph of a national teasure – Sonic America’s Drive In!
